Hey Rvians!
In the midst of preparing for our EOYs which we all have diligently startedđ, let's not forget the canteen vendors who have worked hard to prepare food so that we have the energy to get through our Maths lectures and remember that dy/dx is not actually a fraction when it comes to differential equations.đ”âđ«
This article will feature our non-teaching staff. Let's hear from our canteen vendors first! đ„Ł
First up on the list is Sweet Hut, the stall that sells a dazzling variety of food, from porridge to popcorn chicken. đł They also have a wide array of drinks to choose from, to cater to everyoneâs preferences.
Sweet Hut
Q: What is the best-seller in your stall?
A: Honey aloe vera, and definitely the porridges.
Q: How long have you worked here?
A: I have worked here for about 12 years.
Q: What is your favourite place in RV?
A: RV is very big and we may get lost. We wouldnât have the time to go anywhere else as we spend the majority of our time in the canteen running our stall.
The next stall is V-Cuisine! A fun fact about the stall owners is that they have been vegetarian for almost 14 years now. Also, contrary to popular belief, the stall owners will NOT be retiring, so we can continue patronising their stall.
Even though V-Cuisine may only sell a few items, that's how you truly know that the food is going to be good.

Q: What is the best-seller in your stall?
A: It would be our special dishes like laksa and wonton noodles. So, these are the dishes that we love to cook.
Q: How long have you worked here?
A: 5 years.
Q: What is your favourite place in RV?
A: I actually like everything about the school and maybe especially that our field is very big.
Finally, we have Bakers@RV, our go-to place when we think about wafflesâhopefully not during lessonsâand similar to Sweet Hut, they offer a myriad of options.

Q: What is your best-selling burger?
A: It would definitely be my chicken burger đâitâs the signature [burger] and I have started selling it ever since I joined RVHS.
Q: How long have you worked here?
A: Since January 2014. Next year, it will be my 10th year [working here].
Q: Whatâs your favourite place at RV?
A: I don't like the canteen. It's quite hot here; [instead] I like the swings at the scholarâs court. You can just lepak(Rest) đthere.
Next is our cleaning staff, specifically Aunty Ah Zhu who had graciously taken time out from her break to allow us to interview her.

Q: Do you have a favourite stall?
A: It would be Chinese Delights and maybe some bread from other stalls, but every day I do eat from different stalls. My preferences are not fixed and sometimes I get takeaway.
Q: Do you get your takeaway from foodfare?
A: I rarely eat outside; but when the school canteen is not open, I would go outside to have my meal. If the school is open I would usually just eat at the canteen. However, during school holidays, there are no students so the canteen stalls are closed. That's when I would go outside and eat.
Q: How long have you been working here?
A: Not long, just a year only, I just got posted to work here from another school but I have started working as a cleaner since 2009.
Q: So what is your favourite place in the school?
A: They are all the same, I wouldnât say I like or dislike a specific place.
Q: During your breaks, where do you like to go?
A: The toiletâthere isnât really any other place to go. Sometimes I go to the canteen or the GNC (Good News Cafe). Then, after 12 pm, the cleaners will go wherever they are needed. There is nowhere special for us to go to as we just focus on what we are required to do on that specific day.

With that comes the end of this article! And while this is technically a Teacherâs Day article, do remember our non-teaching staff, such as our cleaners who truly make our school our second home. They have worked tirelessly to ensure that we have a clean environment to study in.
Do remember to show your gratitude by thanking themđ when you see them! Our canteen vendors have also spent countless hours preparing food and beverages so that we are able to rejuvenate ourselves between lessons. Letâs patronise their stalls instead of buying food outside (unless the stalls are closed, of course).
