RVHS-YSHHBSS Student Exchange Programme 2026

On 3 and 4 July 2026, students from the CID 4 Eco-stewardship Programme had the pleasure of hosting students from Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Secondary School (YSHHB) in Brunei Darussalam. We were excited to welcome our Bruneian buddies and to learn, explore and build friendships together.

On the first day, we got to know our buddies through lesson immersion and a school tour. Although we came from different countries and school environments, we quickly found common interests and enjoyed sharing our experiences with one another.

We also presented the eco-sustainability research projects that we had worked on collaboratively. Our discussions allowed us to exchange perspectives on environmental challenges in Singapore and Brunei, helping us realise that sustainability issues often extend beyond national borders. We then visited Funan DigitaLife Mall and the Sustainable Singapore Gallery, where we learnt how sustainable infrastructure, careful resource management and long-term planning contribute to a more resilient city.

The next day, we brought our buddies on a cultural immersion in Chinatown. As we explored its landmarks and heritage, we shared more about Singapore’s multicultural society while also learning about Bruneian culture through our conversations. We later travelled to Sentosa for a field-based ecological enquiry, where we discovered how tourism and recreation can be balanced with environmental protection.

The two-day exchange was both enjoyable and enriching. We deepened our understanding of sustainability, gained a greater appreciation of one another’s cultures and became more confident in communicating across differences. Most importantly, we formed meaningful friendships and look forward to meeting our buddies again in Brunei next year.
