Junior Science Whiz Challenge (JSWC) 2023

The Junior Science Whiz Challenge (JSWC) organised by the Science Leaders Academy was held on 12 April 2023. The event hopes to instil interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in Primary 6 pupils and to provide an opportunity for students from different primary schools to constructively challenge one another on a common platform.

The theme for this year's event is “Save Our Planet For a Sustainable Future”, and we are honoured that a total of 41 primary schools joined us for the event.

The event began with our primary school participants engaging in a written test, followed by a practical test where they had fun constructing a watermill.

In the meanwhile, the rest of the supporters learnt about energy and water sustainability via a series of hands-on activities.

Our Science Leaders Academy members also brought the participants on a school tour, where the specialised science laboratories and facilities we have in the school were showcased.

For the last segment of the event, the top 4 teams participated in a fun and exciting stage quiz.

With much determination and perseverance, CHIJ Our Lady Queen Of Peace emerged as the champion team!

All in all, it was an enriching day packed with many fun activities for the primary school students.
