“Writing is the best way to talk without being interrupted.” - Jules Renard (1864-1910)
As the remaining days of this year flash pass, there’s one thing that will no doubt cross everyone’s mind at some point in time: What will the next year bring? What kind of adventure will next year take me on?
We don’t have all the answers, but we can promise you that if you come on board the RV Editorial family, it’ll be an adventure you won’t forget or regret. Sec 4s and J1s, we’re looking at you guys!
Prepare for an adventure of your lifetime!
RV Editorial is a JC CCA, so it’s no wonder that many might not know what our small but mighty community has to offer. Whether your fingers and wrists are already tingling with anticipation to join us, or you just want to know a little more about our CCA before making your decision, look no further - we have just the thing for you. Read on, and let us take you on a tour through RVSEC with a little FAQ session!
Q: What do you do during CCA sessions? What about outside of them?
A: We don’t just write all the time during CCA - we pitch ideas for future articles, we learn how to become better writers, we help edit each others’ work, we consult our teachers with regards to our writing, but most of all we have loads of fun.
Outside of CCA sessions, we usually complete the article(s) we have at hand; deadlines are extremely reasonable and flexible so you won’t have to worry about being pressed for time!
Q: What’s the best part about the CCA?
A: The company, the super-chill teachers & never-ending finds - there’s simply too much to love about this CCA!
Meet our group of talented, friendly, and fun writers!
Q: How are CCA sessions structured & when are they?
A: Our CCA sessions are on Mondays, 4-6pm. We conduct different activities ranging from group discussions to individual writing when appropriate - but everyone will definitely have a chance to contribute in their own way! On that note, we also welcome writers of all genres; you don’t have to be an expert at journalistic or editorial writing to join us!
And let’s take a look at what some of our very own members have to say about the CCA:
Q: Why did you join RVSEC?
I really loved writing so I wanted to have a platform to continue working on my skills and techniques. Editorial was the first thing that came to my mind, seeing how there was a newsletter I could showcase my writing in, as well as the many talented writers I could work together with.
- Jia Ren, Head of Publicity
Q: What’s one misconception you had about the CCA prior to joining?
I initially thought that CCA sessions would be really formal & intimidating - I thought we'd always be glued to our devices, writing all the time. But that’s definitely not the case; we always end up having loads of fun during CCA sessions.
- Jiawen, Programmes Coordinator
Q: What’s your role and what do you think is your most significant contribution?
As Chief Editor, I think my most significant contribution is spotting and correcting potentially embarrassing mistakes in articles before they get published, which I honestly really enjoy!
- Rachel, Chief Editor
Q: What’s your biggest takeaway from this CCA?
My biggest takeaway is that teamwork makes the dream work - everyone works together to make this CCA a dream CCA for all. With everyone doing their best in their respective positions, RVSEC functions at its prime.
- Wenrui, Programmes Coordinator
“You can make anything by writing.” - C.S. Lewis (1898-1963)
Just like what Lewis once said, RVSEC is a place where anything can happen once you touch pen to paper (or finger to keyboard). With that, along with our IG posts (follow us @rvselc if you haven’t already!), we hope that you’ve not only gotten to know more about the RV Editorial family, but also the adventure that we’ll be able to take you on when you join us. To the Sec 4s and J1s, if you’re ready to make the WRITE choice by joining us, indicate your interest here . We’ll be in touch with you soon for a short, stress-free Whatsapp interview, and we hope to see you in the RV Editorial family when school reopens next year!
